What do I expect?

As I haven't really done my research yet, I'm not entirely sure what to expect. This trip will be pushing my boundaries in going somewhere completely strange in a group of people that I hardly know, and I expect that will be difficult for me, but I'm still excited. Uncomfortable situations force you to grow, right?

I expect that a lot will be crammed into my head in a short period of time, and that it will take time after we are back in the states for everything to fully sink in and process. I also expect that I will be too shy to ask all of the questions that I might have for those who will be giving us music lessons, though I hope to do my best to overcome that shyness.

What do I know?

I'm really rather embarrassed to say that I know next to nothing about India or Indian Music. I know that my Indian friend would always give me food that was far too spicy for me to handle and that most customer service helplines are redirected there from America. I had a crazy semester, and past the time and thought required to get everything squared away for the trip, I haven't had much opportunity to find out more about the country.

So lets start with what I know for sure...
I know that I am very excited to be able to go to India.
I know that I will be very nervous. I sometimes feel overwhelmed on CNU's campus, and I realize that there will be far more people in India.
I know that I have a strong grasp of western music and the theory behind it.
I know that I have no clue about indian music and the theory behind it.
and I know that I will be spending time preparing and learning more about the culture, music, and people of India before we get on the plane to leave now that the semester is over.
